ABOUT ME:

My motivation and desire for teaching art stems from my own experience with art education. From kindergarten to graduation, I felt I required more attention, more information and more freedom of expression.

I was born and raised here in Bethesda, Maryland, in the same house my father grew up in! I now live just down the road, in a house I share with two of my close friends. I attended Bradley Hills Elementary School, Pyle Middle School, and graduated from Walt Whitman High School in 2011. I am so grateful I get to call Bethesda home and am excited for this opportunity to contribute to my community, by sharing my knowledge, love and appreciation for art.

I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art and Art History in 2018.
I now work full-time at Equinox Bethesda, while I continue to create art on the side.

CLASSES:

I teach children and young adults, ages 4 - 19
Classes are held once a week for 8 week sessions, $25 per class

Elementary and middle school students will be presented with a variety of mixed media projects with simple instruction. They will be introduced to different materials, techniques and styles. Based on their interests and capabilities, students will explore their individuality, and learn about the power of imagination and creativity. The majority of my projects are designed to be completely thought up by, planned out by and executed, all by the student, with loose direction and assistance from myself. While other projects may have specific directions to follow they will still allow students to think out of the box and create freely. Projects are designed based on child development and inspired by art history. The focus of these classes is all about the process, which is how we learn!

High school and advanced students will be presented with a variety of mixed media projects, building off background knowledge and interests, and introducing them to more challenging concepts and techniques, while also learning more about art history. Students have the opportunity to receive more attention and feedback than they would in school, better preparing them for a college level art course. I specialize in portfolio planning, artist statements, figure drawing, anatomy, color theory, art theory and art history.

POLICIES:

Registration is accepted on a first come first serve basis.
Following CDC guidelines, class sizes are limited to 6 at a time, to ensure the health and safety of everyone. As well as to provide more individualized attention to each student.
If there is concern, please reach out about private classes.

At this time, a face mask is required.

I will be disinfecting all surfaces, tools and materials before and after each class and keep students and myself at appropriate distances without hindering the learning experience. I will set out all materials and tools we will be using for each class, I ask students to only use their own tools and materials.

I follow Montgomery County Public School Guidelines for any cancellations and early releases during the school year. Weather will be played by ear. Make-up sessions on request.
